Phyllis Fortunato specializes in counseling individuals and couples that are building their family via assisted reproductive technology (ART). Years after becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor with a general practice, she became an infertility patient trying to navigate the complexity of emotions and decisions. After she resolved her family-building journey, she incorporated her experience into her counseling practice to better educate, support and improve the field of Reproductive Psychology. She has over 24 years of counseling clients suffering with various family building struggles, and is passionate about easing this struggle in ways that she felt were missing in the mental health field during her experience. Phyllis also screens potential egg /sperm donors and gestational carriers for fertility clinics, coaches and consults with individuals and couples struggling with third party conception disclosure, and runs support and educational groups. She continues to assist clients in the many feelings, complex decisions, relationship struggles and isolating and challenging ripple effects so often accompanied with family building struggles.
